Australia Cracks Down on Four More Illegal Offshore Gambling Websites

The Australian Telecommunications and Media Regulator (ACMA) recently took steps against an additional four unlawful international gaming platforms, urging Australian web providers to restrict entry to them.

The prohibited sites – Treasure Island Jackpots, Pokies Parlour, Fun88, and Ozwin Casino – were determined to be violating the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 after the ACMA received numerous grievances.

This recent action is a component of a broader effort to combat illegal offshore gambling, with the ACMA successfully blocking a total of 263 such websites since it started issuing blocking requests in November 2019. Moreover, since new illegal offshore gambling regulations were implemented in 2017, over 130 illegal services have withdrawn from the Australian market.

Website blocking is just one of several enforcement tools at the disposal of Australian regulators. The ACMA stresses that blocking these sites provides a valuable chance to inform the public about the risks of illegal gambling services, especially with cautionary messages now displayed whenever someone attempts to access these sites.
