BetVictor Facebook Ad Banned for Featuring Football Stars

The United Kingdom’s advertising regulatory body, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has raised concerns about a Facebook advertisement from gambling firm BetVictor. The promotional material, showcasing Barcelona football club players Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, was considered unsuitable due to its perceived “strong appeal to minors.” The ASA determined that the inclusion of these famous athletes would be particularly enticing to young individuals, a violation of the stringent regulations surrounding gambling promotions in Britain.

Felix Faulkner, an attorney from the legal practice, remarked on the judgment. He stated that this clarifies which participants will be impacted by the updated regulations as per the ASA. This is particularly crucial for participants outside of the United Kingdom who were not included in the prior directives released by the CAP.
